on the road again

The sun was shining from a clear blue sky, for the first time in months, so we sat in the car: One behind the wheel, one on the passenger side, one in the back. We drove for fifty kilometers until we reached a small town where we’d never been before, then we stopped, ate hot dogs and mashed potatoes and burgers, and then we went back on the road again, back home.

I guess it was a rather odd thing to do. We had no business in the town we went to, and it’s for sure not one of those quaint towns you go to for sightseeing purposes. It’s a sleepy, quite ugly little town that you’d normally pass as soon as possible, but that’s not the point here. It didn’t matter where we went, the point was to go out of our comfort zone in the city and do something out of the ordinary, even if it meant going 100 km for fast food.

And you know what? It made my heart tingle.
