Nine and a half months since I left school.
Nine months since I started working fulltime as a hairdresser.
Eight months since I stopped using regular shampoo.
Six months since I registered my business and launched the curly website and forum which now is very busy and has 405 registered users.
Three and a half months since I introduced Jessicurl to the Swedish market.
Three months since I opened Lockbutiken in its current form, my webshop which today has 264 registered customers and is growing faster than I ever could have expected.
Two weeks since my business was featured in a three-page article in a glossy health magazine.
Ten hours since I was cutting and coloring the hair of a client who had travelled 250 km one way to get to the salon where I’m working thanks to the above mentioned article.
Things have moved very quickly. What more could I ask for? Honestly, if things were moving any faster there’s no way I could keep up with everything, but still I have this feeling, this drive, that I want more. What am I trying to do, break every record there is and give myself a heart attack while I’m at it?
Patience, Annika. Patience and perspective. Keep your head in the clouds for all it’s worth but your feet need to be firmly grounded. Remember that.
- Let’s move, I say.
- No, not yet, he says.
When?

E’ vero?
Is it possible to make a fortune in Sweden?
It is definitely possible but you’re right, it is difficult because of the taxes. It is almost impossible as an employee, but if you’re self-employed and have managed to find the right niche and if you’re really good at what you’re doing – well, then it can be done. Just look at Ingvar Kamprad, who founded IKEA.
I’d say it’s probably much easier in the US, but not any more difficult – or easier – here than it is in Italy.
But you know what they say, if you think it’s impossible then it *is* impossible.
Thank you for your kind words!
Very beautiful numbers!
Congrats Annika! It sounds easy, but I’m sure it took you a lot of work and organization.
My favorite saying is: “Reach for the sky, even if you don’t get there, at least you’ll be amongst the stars!”
…enjoy your stars Annika
Patience is good, but sometimes you just can’t wait. You must fly! But you’ll know when the time is right. “He” (who ever you have in mind) will tell you…
