in five-year cycles

Most people can look back over the years and identify a time and place at which their lives changed significantly. Whether by accident or design, these are the moments when, because of a readiness within us and a collaboration with events occurring around us, we are forced to seriously reappraise ourselves and the conditions under which we live and to make certain choices that will affect the rest of our lives.

(Frederick F. Flack)

It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.

These are beautiful writings Annika. I feel so identified with the second one that is kind of scary. Thanks for sharing.

  4. I relate to the first quote because I can remember the exact day I decided to move from California to Italy. It WAS a coming together of many years and many factors. None the less, even though it was 15 years ago, I can remember the day as if it were yesterday.
