“Beware”, she said. “I think she’s building up to something again.”

I sighed. “Yes, I figured as much. Don’t worry, I have no intentions to fight. I already know it’s useless so I am not even going to try.”

Resignation. When did… oh wait, I know the answer to that already. I can easily see the pattern. Like a tortoise I retract and hide until the coast is clear. I become silent, clammed up. I let everything bounce off of me, safe within the sanctuary of my shell.

But you know what, I don’t want to live in a shell.

So, game plan. I have said over and over again that I’ll give it another year, then we’ll take it from there depending on what happens and where we end up once my husband is done in school. That is still the plan if everything is okay at the salon. I added that last paragraph just now.

She suggests that I answer every attack with a calm “Just tell me how you want me to act and I will”. Well, no. I won’t sink that low. I already tried that technique and it has taken me this far but enough is enough.

I said, last time, that if either one of them attacks me again I will go to the union. I have decided to stand by my word. If it means that I have to leave my job, I will.

Nothing has happened yet, but I can feel it in the air. Something is on its way.

Now I know what to do, if and when it happens.
