I had been feeling pretty good since arriving a couple of days ago. I have had no anxiety, and I feel pretty well rested. Both are very unusual for me…I am usually in the middle of a panic attack, or I’m anxiously awaiting one to come on, so, needless to say, sleep was never really restful. So with all of this unusual wellness, I decided today should be the day I ask my dad to tackle some techie shopping with me. He needed a new TV, and I am feeling terribly lost without a computer, so we took a nice trip to Termoli and found ourselves in technology heaven…Euronics, Italy’s version of Circuit City.
Dad immediately found what he wanted, so that sale took no time to complete. I on the other hand needed to investigate a little further because I wanted a new laptop. Well that was project because after deciding on a laptop I then had to try and figure out how to handle an internet connection. In America, the process is very easy. You just pick up a free disc from AOL who whichever provider you are going to use, then you take it home and set it up. Well, this guy had no clue what I was talking about. He kept saying, “call the phone company, you just need a line”. I gave up and just left, quite pleased, with my new Sony VAIO, and HP Printer. I’ll figure this out later…how hard could it actually be?
Well I now know the answer to my own silly question. “It’s extremely difficult!” I bought a computer that has an Italian keyboard, and all of the programs are in Italian. Needless to say, this was not going to be the day I would reconnect with the world. It seems that this language thing can really develop into a major hurdle if I don’t step up my game.
